We're off - Day 1 and 2 - March 2&3, 2007
We were all saddened by the unexpected news that my Mom passed away suddenly. I flew to S.C. to be with my sister to assist her with the arrangements. It was my mom’s wish to be buried in Purcell, Oklahoma. The family will meet there on Mar 20 for a the memorial services and funeral. The trip to Oklahoma will be an especially sad one for us as we had planned a family reunion with my mom, my sister and various aunts and cousins on or around Mar 25 in Oklahoma. How does one accept the loss of a parent?
I certainly appreciated all the emails, calls and cards of sympathy and condolences I got from so many people. Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we continue to move forward …..
Well the day is finally here and we’re off on our life long journey.
On Friday morning we hooked up and we’re almost ready to roll.
Had to go back to the house one more time to get our bicycle helmets that some places require when we ride our bikes…..
So today, we’re heading out first to Tampa, FL to visit with our daughter. We’ll be staying at the RV Park on McDill AFB where we hope to be right on or park very close to the water. We really love the beach and are looking forward to several days where we can kick back and enjoy the warm climate of Tampa.
Tonight we’ll be looking for a Walmart for our first overnight stay close to 95 somewhere half way to Tampa. Walmarts are supposed to be RV friendly and will let you stay in their parking lots overnight if you check in with them. We’ll see how this works tonight….

Well, it's now about 4:20pm and were at the outlet malls outside Selma, NC doing a little shopping. We're about to head on out and drive another couple hours. We'll stop at the Flying J just across the South Carolina state line and then probably start looking for the Super Walmart off 95 in Florence, SC. We'll check in there and see if it's OK to park there for the night. We'll be heading out early tomorrow morning hoping to get to McDill AFB in Tampa before 3pm tomorrow.
